Do you need an outside eye on a creative project? I can help provide fresh eyes, a new perspective, and some handy tools for producing the creative project you imagine. As a professional dance artist and dramaturg, I am trained in providing critical feedback and assessment of artistic work in order to help shape a clear, enticing, and fulfilling vision for your project. This can include an artistic website, designing a new project, organizing a public event, or rehearsing for a presentation!
I can help with design aesthetics, body language and voice rehearsals, organizing and streamlining written content, or establishing initial project goals. During this process, I do my best to ensure that a safe space is established before your creative vision is shared -- it also helps me better understand your goals and personality. I look forward to connecting with you to determine if we are a good fit!
When I was younger, I used to be incredibly shy and insecure. During years of ballet training, I developed a strong work ethic and detail-oriented practice; however, the culture around ballet cultivated insecurities. Often, young dancers experience a lack of confidence despite having many transferrable skills. It wasn't until I received mentorship from artists of different backgrounds that I learned how to apply my skills in various other settings: I learned how to write grants, project proposals, how to think critically in a contemporary setting, how to analyze artistic content, and how to give and receive feedback appropriately. Being an independent artist is like being a self-employed entrepreneur; you often wear many hats if you are to receive grants, market for an audience, and produce high quality work.
After all of these years, I can say that my confidence has grown since those ballet days. It was so essential that I expanded my community to include other, new voices, and it is so rewarding and comforting knowing that they remain some of my dearest friends. I hope I can give back in even some small way :)
